Personal Trainer Courses

Following your passion and becoming a personal trainer is exciting. Being able to earn a living doing what you love is the first step to never having to work a day in your life. But it begins by becoming certified. Here we will take a look at the best personal trainer courses.

How Can I Be Sure My Course Certification Will Be Accepted?
There are many places that have a certification program and even some home study courses. Many of these do offer quality training. But the standard and most recognized courses in this field are those that are accredited by the NCCA.

For a program to maintain its accreditation it is required to have an extensive evaluation and it must keep its course accreditation renewed with the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. Programs such as the NSCA and ACE are among several that carry this accreditation.

What Are The Minimum Requirements?
To become a certified personal trainer you will need to be at least 18 years old and carry a certificate of completion of a CPR course and the use of an automatic external defibrillator, (AED).

Some personal trainer courses require that you graduated high school or at least have your GED certificate. There are trade schools which offer a 2-year program and upon graduation, you will have enough knowledge to pass a certification program. But attending a trade school is usually not mandatory.

Certified Courses
The National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Strength and Conditioning Assc., International Sports Sciences Assc., American Council on Exercise, and American College of Sports Medicine are among the most recognized courses that are certified by the NCCA.

This is not a profession where you can qualify and then not have to keep updated. Most programs require that you keep you CPR and AED certifications up to date. Most programs also require that you continue to earn educational credits to maintain your certification. Each course has different requirements and they each disclose what those are.

But as a professional, you should want to keep up to date with the newest information and technology in the personal trainer field. This will keep you working and recognized as a genuine pro.

Becoming a personal trainer is a rewarding field of work and one where your clients will genuinely appreciate how you help them achieve their goals. Enter this field with a recognized certification and continue to update your knowledge and skills and you will be able to get paid doing what you love.
