The World Skin Project is the only international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of skin cancer awareness with a focus on education for massage therapists, massage therapy students and other body-work professionals.

The World Skin Project conducts dynamic, interactive workshops to educate massage therapists, spa, and skin-care professionals internationally to reduce the occurrence of skin cancer through the promotion of early detection, prevention and awareness. After one of our workshops, the attendee will be able to recognize irregular moles and feel comfortable with making clients aware of the dangers of tanning beds and unprotected UVA and UVB sun exposure. They will understand the latest statistics from the American Academy of Dermatology and will receive literature for their office to hand out to clients to educate them in our mission. They will understand how to approach clients in a compassionate manner, refer to a board certified dermatologist, and stay within their scope of practice.

We encourage all body-workers to advise clients and patients on the dangers of skin cancer. We are currently scheduling workshops for 2010 and 2011. To schedule a workshop, please email Laura Stevenson-Flom.
